If 2020 taught us anything, it’s that remote jobs are available for more career paths than we knew.
Well… to be fair, we’ve known. We’ve been telling people for years to work remote!
Every week we get messages in our inbox. They usually look like this… How do you travel so much? You’re so lucky you get to travel often. Or I WISH I could travel too!
GREAT NEWS… You can!
Honestly… I get it. I used to sit in class and think WOW the world is so beautiful. Too bad I’ll never be rich enough to travel. I wish I could do that.
The absolute first step to traveling the world, working remotely, to transforming your life into more freedom: Is fully believing you actually can.
You have to open your mind up first and then you’ll realize the possibility is actually limitless. (Little Outlander reference here, where are my Outlander fans?!)

Rolf Potts said it best in Vagabond:
“Given an unlimited amount of choices, we make none. Settling into our lives, we get so obsessed with holding onto our domestic certainties that we forget why we desired them in the first place.”
You really do have unlimited choices to make long term travel a reality, but you have to change your mind about all the stories that tell you it’s not possible.
Alright… So, let’s dive on in! I’m going to break this down into 5 categories… (Business, Freelancing, Teaching, Career, and MISC)
Business
We are kicking this off with the online business world, this is by no means an extensive list of online businesses. In fact I could probably create a list of 100 online businesses and then still not be done. If you can dream it up, you can create it. I’m listing out some of the top online businesses that you can start today.
1. Coaching: I had to add it first! I truly believe coaches are changing the world, we need more! I’ve coached from all over the world, and supported women from Nebraska to Belgium – all over the globe! It is absolutely remote and the doors that can open up once you start a coaching journey are extraordinary.
Pros: Can be 100% remote, income is limitless, the field is growing more and more each year
Need to knows: The coaching industry has a low barrier for entry and a high barrier for success. You have to put in work to see results… as with any business… actually this will be the disclaimer for all of the businesses that follow…

2. Course Creation: Not really into the whole coaching thing, but love teaching?
The online course industry is a multi billion, that’s billion with a B, dollar industry. Education is changing, people are looking to learn online and now. You can find a course in almost anything. Don’t let that detour you though, because no one can teach the way you can!
I learned from the best! Learn from Tony + Dean how to earn while making an impact here!
3. Sell on Amazon: Did you know when you buy on Amazon, you’re most likely buying from someone who is sitting at home or traveling the world maybe? Not someone sitting in an Amazon warehouse. You can list and sell items on Amazon and earn a pretty penny if you put in the work. If you want to learn more about this, google ‘Amazon FBA’ and you’ll find plenty of information on this business.
4. Sell on Etsy: Etsy is a little different, a little more crafty if you will (pun intended). Though you can also create digital products on Etsy now!
5.Sell on Poshmark: This is new to me, but I am intrigued! People are making full time incomes selling on Poshmark, an app you can sell your gently worn clothes or you can even thrift! It’s amazing the opportunities you really have to work location independent.
6.Blogging (could probably be an entire subcategory): Ah, the vehicle that started my entire remote journey!
You can make a great income blogging, I will say it is a lot of behind the scenes work! It’s like the Wizard of Oz! Pull back the curtain and ahhh… there’s the blogger that’s doing extraordinary things!
You can earn an income SO many ways blogging. You can do advertising, sponsored posts, selling e-books or courses, and affiliate marketing…
7. Affiliate Marketing: I made this one it’s own category, because this is how I made my first six figures online.
Affiliate marketing is when you promote someone else’s offer for them and you earn a commission. People do affiliate marketing as a side income for their business or full time.
I highly recommend Making Sense of Sense’s Affiliate Marketing course to learn how to correctly earn through affiliate marketing.
8.VA/OBM work: Are you organized to the max? Love doing the detail work?
Virtual assistants (VA’s) or Online Business Managers (OBM’s) are much needed in this remote world we live in! You can easily start your own business doing this or look for open remote positions through a company.
Freelancing
Freelancing is pretty much owning your own business if you’re doing it full time. A bit different on the tax side of things + obtaining clients and client work will look a little different.
I recommend checking out Fivver or Upwork if you’re interested in Freelance work!
9.Writing: There are so many different paths with this, you can be a contributor to global publications or you can be a ghostwriter for businesses & individuals.
10. Graphic design: Don’t want to do the whole business shindig, but like to design? Freelance it up!
11. Social media management: Business owners need social media managers like peanut butter needs jelly. If you’re a full time business owner, you know managing social media is a full time job in itself. You can freelance social media management or community management and support several business owners to success.
12. Specialized skill: I feel like the freelancer options are endless. If you have a specialized skill, you can most likely freelance it! SEO, marketing, software development.
Teaching
13. VIPKid: I started it as a side income and kind of fell in love with my students. I’m so obsessed with them, they honestly make my day brighter and remind me of what is possible.
To start, you must have a Bachelor’s Degree and be a citizen of the US or Canada. You can email me any questions you have about teaching, I am happy to answer!
14.Make your own classes: I realize I kind of have this twice, but I think there’s kind of two routes you can take here.
Outschool has allowed brick and mortar teachers everywhere to go remote. I know people who were let go during the pandemic of 2020, and replaced their income with Outschool. Outschool allows you to teach to small groups using your own schedule.
Career
If you’re thinking ‘I actually like having direction. I don’t really want to own my own business or be responsible for filling my calendar with work.’ That’s okay too!
There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting a career over a business. Working remote with a company is more popular than ever.
My 2 go to sites for finding remote work are:
15.Remote.co
16.Remotive.io
MISC
Some bonus ways to travel or experience new locations!
17. Housesitting: Okay… It’s not a paying job per say, but it’s kind of the best job!
If your lease is up or you just feel like selling all your stuff like we’ve done before… try housesitting! You can stay in houses all around the world (for free!) and watch people’s animals. That’s like… the dream.
We like Trusted Housesitters best, and I have a 25% off discount for you here!
18. Airbnb your house: Okay, now, do you own your house and don’t really feel like selling it?
We have friends who accidentally earned a full time income by Airbnb-ing out their house. They went on an extended trip and thought… why not try it out?!
It ended up getting booked out the entire time and they earned a full time income while traveling.
You have to set up things like cleaning and routine maintenence while you’re gone, along with figuring out how to get keys to people. Once you organize that, you’re freeeeeeee!
19.Scuba dive: (added this one in for Andrew) – Andrew loves this location independent job! Once you’re Padi trained, you can travel the world and teach people to scuba dive!
Really… that can translate to so many different skills… like Skydiving!
20. Get a work visa: Finally, if you just want a taste of something new. New place, new culture, new experiences… you can get a work visa somewhere else other than your home country doing, well… anything. You can bartend or teach or work in an office or be a nanny.
Honestly, your options to work and travel are endless. It feels like I constantly learn about a new remote work opportunity every week.
You have to open your mind up to the idea that there is SO much more available for you so that you can experiment in different possibilities.
I started 2 other businesses before I landed in the one I’m obsessed with. Don’t be afraid to experiment as you follow your calling to see the world!
I hope we get to cheers with you in another country one day soon!
