The digital world is booming, and the world needs your voice and what you have to offer. Chances are if you’re here, you love to create and you have a message to share. Chances also are… you want this to be more than just a hobby blog. You want to create impact + income.
We get it! That’s why we started this blog too, we wanted to inspire wanderlusts everywhere to see the world. Only one life to live and a world to see. And we wanted a pretty penny or two coming in along the way. It all sounded so dreamy, until we got started and plateaued at our loyal following of two readers (Hi, Mom and Dad!)
After many sleepless nights, Google searches GALORE, and being knee deep in courses on how to do it. We built this once home of two readers and $0 up to a six figure business and thousands of readers monthly. And we want to take all of the guess work and stress out of it for you.
Because it turns out… we were only missing a few simple steps, and maybe you are too.
Your profitable blog is waiting for you to create it, so let’s dive on in!
Step One: Your Blog’s Home
Well, let’s start with the basics here… your blog needs a home and a secure one at that. Let me tell you how NOT fun it is to lose posts or pages that took you days to work on. Build your blog using a reputable hosting site. We recommend Bluehost; it’s easy to set up, simple to use, and connects with WordPress beautifully! Step Two: Niche It Down
Who are you talking to and why? Come up with concrete brand pillars to base your business around. This will keep the content flowing even when you hit writers block! Your blog should be directed to a specific person/group of people. In our free blogging course we break down how to get crystal clear on this super niche!
Step Three: Profit Plans
As simple as it sounds, this was our number one mistake moving into blogging. We thought, we’ll just create a blog and money will roll in. EEEEEH WRONG.
Hope is not a strategy, friends. I know they say follow your passion and the money will come, follow your passion all day long but no ones paid me to eat donuts yet. You have to do some work, but I can promise you passion filled work is pretty freaking fun. You have to plan your income streams. There are hundreds of ways to earn money online and tons of sustainable ways to earn through a blog, here are some of our favorites:
- Affiliate Marketing – that’s how we began this blog empire
- Course Sales – that’s how we scaled this blog empire 🙂
- Product Sales
- Mentoring/Coaching
- And more!
You can have multiple streams, yes. But we recommend starting with one and focusing on building that one first before diversifying.
Step Four: Traffic
This is a biggie, we had loyal parents reading the blog, but no loyal strangers when we began. You have to drive traffic to get eyeballs on your creations + to start building up trust with an audience before they will buy. Like income streams, you can diversify this, but do not spread yourself too thin. There are so many amazing social media sites to spread the word on, but begin with 1-2 that you can really show up on! We love using: Pinterest + Facebook for our blog traffic!
Step Five: Stay in line with your why
Want to make an impact and an income? Then stay in line with why you began in the first place, the moment you lose site of your why is the moment you lose momentum. Business is like a roller coaster, there will be ups and downs, highs and lows. But you didn’t dream this dream only to abandon ship, stay committed and your blog with flourish!
