Megan & Andrew:
So if you read our previous post then you know our first trip out of the US has been postponed. This is not going to stop us though; it’s just a bump in our road! Traveling together is one of the best ideas that we have ever had!
There is no other date that will make you closer as a couple and allow you to grow together. Between long road trips or airline delays, bad hotels or exhilarating experiences; you learn to love it all together along with learning patience with each other.
Immersing yourself into another culture creates openness like you have never experienced before. Experiencing the beauty around you with someone you find equally as beautiful only allows your passion to grow. We love normal date nights sometimes too, but if the chance of adventures presents itself, then we are undoubtedly going to choose that option.
Don’t believe us? Take it from these other power couples!

Couples who travel together stay together.
Spending 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with your spouse is a lot of time! How many hours a week does a couple generally spend at home together when working a 9-5? Not many when you include nights out with friends and hours spent sleeping.
When you’re travelling, you’re together full time, you only have each other to lean on and you really get to know who your significant other truly is. When you see an amazing site or have a great experience, you’ll always have that person to say “remember when…?”
We’ve been on the road for over 5 years together and it has only brought us closer.

You enter into a relationship with a host of questions about who the other person is and expect to find those answers over time. Travelling together becomes an expedited version of that process and no matter how long you’ve been together, there’s always more to learn.
Whether short- or long-term, travelling as a couple can be a time of huge growth and bonding. During our full-time travels together, we have come to completely depend on, and utterly trust, each other. We share amazing experiences, help each other through the hardships and grow, closer together, with each day. For us now, being with each other means being home.

When you travel the environment, food, climate and everything changes. But as a couple you have one constant, your partner. Even you and your significant other change, but you change together.
Plus you will have the benefit of an extra set of talents. Make sure these are clear. Like that, you can fill in where the other lacks not anywhere else… When you make sure you are a team, it is like you have a super power, just make sure you benefit from it.
There is one Golden Rule though: Enjoy the misery together! Because misery will be there too.

Travel. It’s wonderful and carefree, with beaches and blue skies, cultures and creatures, dancing and dreaming. It’s also miserable and stressful, with scammers and schemers, bed bugs and blizzards, logistics and leeches.
Find a person that shares the ups and the downs, stays sane during 15-hour bus rides, and likes the same street food, and you’ve found the one. Travel is a microcosm of life: a journey and a destination, a simultaneous lecture and pop quiz, punctuated by periods of boredom and terror. The one you can travel with will also be by your side through life.

My partner and I have always been destined to travel the world together. We met on a pub-crawl in Dublin, and really haven’t stopped traveling together since!
In my opinion, you really don’t know a person until you’ve traveled with them. It shows you what makes them tick in a tricky situation. It can bring out the best… and the worst. And if you can come out alive and in love, then your relationship can withstand most curve balls life will throw at you. Traveling with your partner makes you a better couple, and it’s made me a better person.
The biggest piece of advice I can give to couples looking to adventure together is to be patient. No matter how much you think you know a person, traveling with them will be a whole different ball game. And there’s no better game in the world!
There you have it! Six couples tell you the magic and the mess of traveling together! Tell us in the comments are you a traveling couple? What do you have to say about traveling with your partner?

Love this post. I would also add that you don’t always need your other half to have an awesome adventure. Solo travel and travel with mates has it’s own advantages 🙂 Who needs popcorn anyway?
