Anyone with a computer these days thinks that they can start a blog and grow it into their primary source of income. I won’t lie we were guilty of that. Now our sites been under construction for three weeks because of something that we could have avoided in the beginning.
Today we are going to give you some blog start up tips that we have compiled, think of it as a “what we would have done differently if we knew.”
Do your research
No, like really do it. I don’t mean sit down for an hour and read top ten blogging sites for this year. Really dive in, this will help you avoid later mistakes. Read about hosting sites and domains and theme templates. Get accustom with plugins and different ad affiliate sites, learn SEO and domain names. And take it all in before you start, this will save you a potential headache later.
Make a plan
After you take in all of this knowledge, make sure you have it all written down, don’t rely on memory because we all know that life gets in the way of plans sometimes. Have a strategy of what you are doing, how you are doing it and your goals for later. Decide when you are going to post and keep this frequent, because no content=no traffic.
Figure out what is going to make you stand out. Just do yourself a favor and figure out all you can before you start or you will spend a lot of time (and money) staring at a computer screen saying “now what…..” BE PREPARED!
Gain some experience or hire someone who has it
Look I understand you are computer savvy, I am too. My dad had me learning html codes and design when I was like 5 (on our giant desktop computer). Unless you have a degree in webpage design or have extensive course work in it, you are not a professional. Once you think you have it, something new will appear. CREATING A WEBSITE THAT WILL BE THE SOURCE OF YOUR INCOME IS NOT EASY. Yes, the initial steps are but you will be kicking yourself later when things become too advanced. It would be like taking a 400 level chemistry course without taking the basics.

Finally once you are up and running, figure out how you are going to stand out. What will make you different in this vastly growing online world? Make sure you are writing stellar content and even if you are new, act like you’ve been doing this for years! Go into it with this confidence, you will be happy you did.
